This week, my colleague and I, Kaden Vanderpool teamed up to make a video on how to connect to the libraries at Kansas State University while being in the Catalyst. What is the Catalyst? Located on the ground floor of Bluemont Hall, the Catalyst provides technology support; digital media, copying, network and instructional services; and instructional materials and technology equipment for faculty, staff and students in the College of Education. A wide variety of equipment is available for College of Education faculty and student use in teaching and learning.
We decided to make a video on how to look up resources on one of the catalyst computers to find out where to find elementary math and geometry curriculum. We used the app called iMovie We created a design and used editing features about how to use the library website. We then started recording on our iPhone's and iPad's, and finished editing it on a Mac. Kaden and I really enjoyed using the iMovie app to create our video because it was very simple and easy to use. We both agreed that we would implement this app and how-to assignment within our own future classrooms.
Kaden and I decided to use the Explain Everything app to discuss in detail our purpose of the video. The Explain Everything app is an easy-to-use design, screencasting, and interactive whiteboard app with real-time collaboration that lets you animate, record, annotate, collaborate, and explore ideas, knowledge and understanding. It provides teachers and students an opportunity to share thinking, reflect upon knowledge building, and assess both products and processes of learning. |
