Canva: Free
|
This week I created a tutorial on how to use the app Canva. Canva is a free app where you can make different types of designs for templates. These templates are pre-made for Pinterest, a poster, and many more designs. I absolutely love this app because it is very easy to use and they have nice templates. In my previous blog reviews and projects, you can see I have used Canva before to create things. I would 100% use this within my own classroom because I believe creativity is very important in a classroom. This app gets students engaged, involved, and helps with communication between peers. There are many opportunities for students and teachers to use this within a lesson plan or for an event. As a teacher, I thought it would be a neat idea to create a Canva poster as a class to help create classroom rules for the beginning of the year.

Skitch: Free
I like the Canva app so much that I decided to make a how-to video about it. First, I looked online for detailed information about the Explain Everything to help me get familiarized with using the app. Then, I used a free app called Skitch, to take professional looking screenshots of every detail I wanted in my video. This app was fantastic to use because I was able to write my own labels on the actual picture to explain in more detail.

Explain Everything: Free 3.0 Version
After gathering my screenshots, I then downloaded the app called Explain Everything for my iPad. I loved this app. The website describes it as being“a presentation app that integrates content from many sources that teachers and teens can use to create lessons, tutorials, and more for class or personal use. This formidable tool is like a superhero version of PowerPoint.” I was able to create slides using an infinite canvas, use a laser pointer, draw with many different color choices, add shapes, text, images, videos, documents, audio files, live web browsers, and more. With my items, I was then able to rotate, move, scale, flip, copy, paste, clone, and lock any object added to the stage. This was so easy when it came to recording my how-to video, because I was able to create high quality, creative, and meaningful content for my future students/classmates to learn from.

Finally, I downloaded my presentation into a video... here is the final product. Enjoy!
