This week I was assigned to create a notecard confession of a historical event, character from a story, or something from my personal experience. A notecard confession is a creative video that has no talking, and just music in the background. The only dialogue within the video is on notecards. I think this reminds me like captions on a movie or T.V. show. The most common themes within Notecard Confession videos are motivational, or about hard times people have been through. Below, I have posted some of my own favorite notecard videos. In the videos below, they are about historical periods/characters while the other one is comical.

As a teacher, it is important to have engaging activities to help our students connect with the material. When I was making my own notecard confession, I was having a difficult time picking the topic. I chose to do mine over the perspective of Martin Luther King Jr. at his speech in 1963. The next struggle I had was to how I was actually going to make this video and what to use to record it. I chose to use Google Docs to write down my plan of what I was going to say. I then downloaded the app for it and used my iPad as the actual notecards. Then, I used my iPhone 6s Plus to record it. The reason I used my phone is because on my Mac computer it reversed the cards. After that, I used iMovie to create the video and place music behind it. I chose an instrumental piece by The Beatles called Let it Be because they are from the 1960s which is when Martin Luther King Jr spoke. Below, is a video of my notecard confession. I feel like when I become I teacher, I will want to try this myself because I like the creative aspect about it. Below is my very own video, enjoy! |
This is Martin Luther King Jr.
Google Docs is a free app. You only need a Google Account and you're set!
