Why do I want to teach?
As an education major, I get asked this question a lot from colleagues, family members and friends. It's actually quite simple; I want to teach because I believe every student deserves a chance at a great education. It does not matter to me what your socioeconomic status is, the religion of your home, or the culture you were raised in; every child has the equal right to a fair and genuine education. As a teacher, I think it is crucial to make every student feel valued and safe. Being a teacher is not all about the content, the student must come first. If the student is having an issue within the class, that is the perfect time to intervene and listen to them. As a teacher we must listen to our students because more often than we like, our students are not getting the necessary and healthy attention they need from home. As a teacher we are there to educate, not to judge. |
I love being with my friends. Here is a picture of us on the front porch of our house.
Family is extremely important to me, here are my parents. They will be celebrating their 25th anniversary on July 4th!
